INHUMANE PRACTICE
Born in East Palo Alto's Ghetto, Johnny Taylor was sentenced to LWOP (Life Without the possibility of Parole) in 1986 at age 19. He had been in and out of juvenile detention facilities since the age of 9, due to an abusive, toxic home environment and cyclical poverty. Prisoners sentenced to LWOP actually remain in prison for the rest of their lives and die in prison.
